The Henry County YMCA is a nationally chartered YMCA branch operating under the Metro Atlanta YMCA association. The Henry County YMCA's vision is to  build strong kids, strong families, strong communities. Programs focus on developing the YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

2008 Volunteer of The Year

Wayne Lowrey- Henry County Family YMCA

Wayne Lowrey has volunteered with the Henry County YMCA since 2005. He served as Partner With Youth Chair for both campaign years 2007 and 2008, and was instrumental to the success of both campaigns, which enabled hundreds of youth to attend summer camp, learn to swim and participate in youth sports activities. A resident of McDonough, Wayne contributes to the community in countless ways. He is active in the Henry County Chamber of Commerce as well as the Henry Council for Quality Growth. Wayne is the Executive Vice President of United Community Bank in Henry County.

"It's been a great experience from the standpoint of being able to associate with Jeff, the board, and staff", Wayne says of his YMCA experience. He enjoys the fact that he shares with the YMCA staff and board members "a common goal to benefit the community and the young people in the community."

Wayne is married to Lynn, who teaches in Griffin, GA. They have two children, a son enrolled at Auburn University, where Wayne is an alumnus, and a daughter who attends High School in Henry County.

Wayne enjoys golfing in his spare time and he is also an avid hunter of deer and small birds. He sings in the men's choral group at McDonough Presbyterian Church where he is a member.
